What the paper establishes
The paper gives Phitter a permanent, peer-reviewed scholarly record. The paper is also an external quality signal—but it should be described precisely. JOSS publication means that the submitted software and paper passed the journal’s review process; it does not mean that every distribution is the right model for every dataset.
