Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Phitter web application at phitter.io handles information. Phitter is a free, open-source project for fitting probability distributions.

Dataset processing

Data that you paste or import from a local TXT, CSV, or XLSX file is processed locally in your browser through Python and Pyodide. The fitting feature does not send the contents of those datasets to a Phitter-operated fitting server.

If you choose to import a file from a remote URL, your browser contacts the host of that URL to retrieve the file. That host can receive ordinary request information and applies its own privacy policy.

Information stored on your device

Phitter uses browser local storage to remember interface preferences such as your selected language and light or dark theme. Removing the site's stored data in your browser clears these preferences.

Analytics and measurement

Phitter currently loads the following services on its pages:

• Overtracking is used to understand aggregate site traffic and usability. According to Overtracking's privacy policy, its analytics tool may process information such as country, browser, screen resolution, referring and visited URLs, operating system, and device type. Overtracking states that it anonymizes IP addresses and stores analytics data in the European Union.
• Google tag for Google Ads (identifier AW-17379560448) is used for advertising and conversion measurement. Google may process browser or device information, online identifiers, interactions with the site, cookies, and network information according to the tag configuration and the user's privacy choices. These services are not used to receive the numerical values contained in datasets submitted to the fitting tool. Phitter does not sell user datasets or require an account.

Cookies and privacy choices

Analytics and measurement providers may use cookies or similar browser identifiers according to their configuration and policies. You can remove or restrict cookies and third-party scripts through your browser settings. Google advertising preferences can also be reviewed in My Ad Center.

Hosting and security logs

Infrastructure used to deliver and protect the website may process standard technical request information, such as an IP address, user agent, requested URL, and timestamp. This information is used for delivery, reliability, abuse prevention, and security.

Children's privacy

Phitter does not require registration and does not knowingly request personal information from children. If you believe personal information has been submitted inappropriately, please contact us.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Phitter's features, measurement tools, or service providers change. The revision date at the top identifies the current version.
